Candomblé in the Camera

Combination of events including a lecture about the Afro-Brazilian religion by Dutch anthropologist Mathijs van de Port, a photo exhibition of Brazilian photographer Chico Colombo and a video projection by Brazilian video-artist Sérgio Ulhõa, both picturing the Yemanjá festivities in Salvador, Bahia. The evening ended with the documentary Black Atlantic: on the Orixas Route.

Brazil Instrumental : Nelson Latif & Trio Baru

A Hora do Brasil Foundation organized its first event in Amsterdam in a weekend dedicated to the best of the Brazilian music.
On Saturday, musician and sociologist Nelson Latif and his fellows of Trio Baru gave a workshop about the history of the Brazilian music from 1920's until now, in a chronological description of the social and political background of the country. Next day, they played just about everything, from Villa-Lobos to Jacó do Bandolim, in a full house concert which marked the inauguration of A Hora do Brasil.
